HICKIES get to Know: David Chiu

At HICKIES, we have the pleasure of getting to know a lot of fashionable people. At the end of the day, we always discover that these creators of awesome are more like you and I than we may think. We got to know Canadian Blogger David Chiu and had the pleasure of asking him a few questions.

  1. Where do you live?
  • I live in Toronto, Ontario in Canada. Grew up in Scarborough.

  • What is your full time job, or is this blog your full time job?

  • What are some of your favorite brands?
    • There are so many! Some of my favorite brands and retailers includes: Diesel, Converse, Levis, Roots, Joe Fresh, H&M, American Eagles Outfitters, Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Gap, Bench, Jack & Jones, Target, J.Crew and of course HICKIES!

  • What got you into fashion blogging?
    • Well, I first started up my blog, David Chiu’s Stuff was simply to share the many stuff that makes me happy, find interesting and what inspires me.

It’s not really a blog that’s all just about fashion, I write about lots of stuff: share photos I’ve taken, music I enjoy, movies/tv shows, design/advertisements, events, product reviews and even do giveaways.

However, it just happens that I do more postings related to fashion. I love shopping for clothes, sneakers, watches and bags. I also like putting together outfits. I figured, that it would be against the law if I don’t share my sense of style, right?!(lol)

That’s when I started doing ‘Outfit of the day’pics on instagram (you can search #dchiuoutfit for all my outfits) and added a ‘Stuff I Wore’ section on my blog (http://davidchiustuff.blogspot.ca/search/label/Stuff%20I%20Wore). It’s a lot of fun posing & pretending to be a model.

At the end of the day, I just really hope that my readers will have fun and get some ‘stuff’ from it.

  • What magazines or blogs do you read?
  • What tips do you have for people out there who are wanting to do a fashion blog?

    • I will say just go for it! Do what you love. It’s doesn’t really cost anything to start it, well if you don’t count spending/shopping for your outfits.

Just post up/write about things that you like, have great interest in. It’s all about sharing.

Try to be active on all social networks or to reach out to PR agencies, if you want to get yourself/blog out there – that was actually how Hickies found out about me!

Yes, it does take up some times, but in the end it’s all fun and good times!

Be sure to follow David! He is a great guy to chat with about fashion on Twitter :)
